Ensure your first exam using LockDown Browser runs smoothly! Have students take an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser, before the graded exam occurs. If you have not already installed the browser, you will be given a link to download the browser, or you may install the browser at any time from this link. Once you have installed the browser, you may use it for all future tests requiring the use of the LockDown browser. Once you have installed the browser on your computer, open the LockDown browser. It will open directly to the e-Learning log-in page. Click login in the upper right corner and login using your gatorlink username and password.
You will then be in e-Learning. Go to the course where the test is being given and begin the test. You want to make sure you have a strong, reliable internet connection when using LockDown browser. We do not recommend taking the test from a cafe or other open wireless connection. When taking a test in the LockDown browser, your computer will be disabled for all purposes except for taking the test.
The only way to get out of the LockDown browser is to submit your test. If you encounter technical difficulties while taking a test using the LockDown browser, call the Help Desk immediately. Go to the specific quiz you wish to take and attempt to begin the quiz, like you normally would without Respondus LockDown Browser. Click Take the Quiz. Once a quiz has been started with Respondus LockDown Browser, you cannot exit until the Submit Quiz button is clicked. Windows: 10, 8, 7 Mac: Instructors must configure the quiz settings so that students could use Respondus on their iPads.
How can I use Respondus on my Chromebook? Respondus on Chromebooks should automatically work. Instructors no longer need to configure the quiz settings so that students could use Respondus on their Chromebooks. This extension does have limitations and known issues.
Higher Ed help article to learn more. From Chrome, navigate to your quiz and click the Take the Quiz button. You may have to press the Refresh key on your keyboard, if you experience issues.
